Hi ha una série de arguments que nos demostren que esta llegenda del Penó de les quatre barres no és verdadera (a pesar que afirmar alguna cosa diferent de lo que marca el pensament únic catalaniste és anar en contra de les lleis de la “ciència”).Per una part, està l’història mateixa. Està demostrat que en 1238, quan entra Jaume I en el Cap i Casal del Regne de Valéncia, la bandera del monarca aragonés naixcut en Montpellier -Jaume I- estava formada per dos barres roges sobre fondo groc.
